Robert 'Bud' McFarlane

Biography:
Robert McFarlane served as President Ronald Reagan's National Security Advisor from 1983-1985. In that role, he developed the family of policies known informally as "Star Wars" which succeeded in accelerating the fall of Marxism, ending the Cold War and opening the door to liberalization of the countries of the former Soviet Union and Central Europe.

After leaving the Reagan White House, McFarlane founded his own energy development company, Global Energy Investors LLC, sponsoring major international power projects in Brazil, Pakistan, the Philippines, and China. In 2000, he served as founding Chairman of Energy and Communications Solutions, whose focus was on developing a variety of energy and environment projects in Eastern and Central Europe, and the former Soviet Union.
Currently, McFarlane serves as Chairman and CEO of McFarlane Associates Inc., developing energy projects in Russia, Africa and the Middle East, as well working with non-profit organizations to develop methods and projects to utilize alternative forms of energy and reduce US reliance on foreign oil.
Throughout the years, he has continued to provide advice to major corporations and governments on energy infrastructure, and privatization policies. Recently, he has played an integral role in bringing together the leaders of religious sects in Iraq as they work to reduce sectarian violence.
