Ali-Akbar Yasaghi

Title: Judge on the Mashhad Revolutionary Court

Sanctions: European Union (April 12, 2011)

In April 2011, the European Union named Ali-Akbar Yasaghi as an individual subject to sanctions for human rights violations. According to the Council of the European Union, Yasaghi presided over trials, many of which took place behind closed doors, in which the accused were denied basic rights. Yasaghi has also been responsible for issuing numerous death sentences “without proper observance of fair hearing procedures.”[1]
