Ali Fazli


Position: Deputy Commander of the Basij

Sanctions: European Union (April 12, 2011)

In April 2011, the European Union named Ali Fazli as an individual subject to sanctions for human rights violations. Until February 2010, Ali was head of the IRGC’s Seyyed al-Shohada Corps, which is responsible for security in Tehran province “and played a key role in brutal repression of protesters in 2009,” as stated by the Official Journal of the European Union.[1]

In February 2010, Fazli was appointed head of Rahian-e Nour camps of the Basij, according to the Iranian press.[2]
