Sanctions: European Union (April 12, 2011)

The European Union sanctioned IRGC General Ali Khalili in April 2011.[1]

According to the Council of the European Union, Khalili gave written consent to prevent the release of medical records and documents associated with any person hospitalized or injured during the June 2009 demonstrations.[2]

According to an Iranian news source, Khalili’s ordered the management of the country’s Ministry of Health to “take appropriate measures to bar hospitals from disclosing any such documents or evidence to the aforementioned individuals,” which included the victims themselves. [3]
