China National United Oil Corporation (China)

 

 

Also known as Chinaoil, China National United Oil Corporation is jointly owned by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Sinochem Corporation. According to its website, Chinaoil is responsible for importing and exporting crude oil (China National United Oil Corporation website, accessed April 11, 2013).

In 2010, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) noted that Chinaoil delivered gasoline to Iran between January 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010 (U.S. Government Accountability Office, September 3, 2010).

A GAO report from 2012 noted that there was not enough evidence to indicate that whether the company had continued or ceased its gasoline deliveries to Iran (U.S. Government Accountability Office, December 7, 2012).

Deal: Oil & Gas Journal reported Chinaoil signed a contract in August 2012 for Iranian crude oil for the rest of the year. Details of the agreement were not available (Oil & Gas Journal, August 27, 2012).
