According to the company’s website, Doosan Corporation was established in Seoul, South Korea in 1896. Over the next 80 years, Doosan dominated the alcoholic beverage business in Korea, gaining an 80 percent market share in the 1970s and 1980s. Doosan began to restructure in the 1990s, selling its beer business and becoming an Infrastructure Support Business (ISB) provider. Deal: According to the Doosan company documents, Doosan signed a $260 million contract with the Iran Power Plant Management Company (MAPNA) in July 2003 to upgrade 44 thermal power plants (Doosan 2003 Annual Report, 2003). It is not clear when the project was completed.

Date: 2003 – 2007

Deals: According to Doosan’s website, MAPNA contracted Doosan subsidiary Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction to complete seven projects between 2003 and 2007. The projects included the Shirvan CC Power Plant, the Sanandaj CC Power Plant, the Jahrom CC Power Plant, the Damavand CC Power Plant, the Kerman CC Power Plant, the Kazeroon New CC Power Plant, the Kazeroon Old CC Power Plant, the Yazd CC Power Plant, and the Neka CC Power Plant (Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Performance Website, accessed July 10, 2013).

Date: 2007 – 2011

Deals: According to Doosan’s website, Doosan’s Engineering and Construction division completed two contracts on the Abadan CC Power Plant and the Yazd Solar CC Power Plant between 2007 and 2011. MAPNA contracted both projects, which were located in Yazd (Doosan E & C Performance Website, accessed July 10, 2013).

Date: 2009 - 2010

Deal: According to Power Engineering, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed a $96 million contract with MAPNA Boiler Company in June 2009 to supply heat recovery steam generators for cogeneration power plants in Iran (Power Engineering, June 2009).

Date: June 2009 – December 2011

Deal: According to Doosan’s website, Doosan Engineering and Construction completed projects on Iran’s Genaveh CC Power Plant and Kahnooj CC Power Plant that lasted from 2009 to 2011. MAPNA Boiler Company contracted Doosan for both projects (Doosan E & C Performance Page, accessed July 10, 2013).

U.S. Business Ties: According to Doosan’s website, the company maintains 23 offices throughout the United States (Doosan Global Network, accessed July 11, 2013).
