Gholamhosein Ramezani

Position: Commander of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence

Sanctions: European Union (May 23, 2012)

In May 2012, Gholamhosein Ramezani was sanctioned for his violations of human rights by the European Union. In his position as Commander of IRGC Intelligence, Ramezani was responsible for violating the rights of those speaking out in defense of their civil rights, including the right to freedom of expression, according to the Official Journal of the European Union. Additionally, Ramezani is in charge of the IRGC department responsible for arresting and torturing journalists and bloggers.[1]
