Honda Motor Company

According to an academic publication, motorbikes routinely ridden by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) units are manufactured by Japan’s Honda (Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, April 15, 2008). Tehran’s police force has also been photographed by Iran’s Fars News Agency using Honda motorcycles as part of their fleet (Uskowi on Iran, March 12, 2010).

According to The New York Times, Honda worked in Iran between 1974 and 2008; the company is completing work on existing contracts but has no plans to make any future investments in Iran. It had partnered with an Iranian firm, Tizro, to manufacture motorcycles and deliver other equipment to the Islamic Republic but ended the agreement in 2008. While the company continues to be active in Iran, it is not engaging in any new business (The New York Times, March 12, 2010).
