According to the Official Journal of the European Union, Hossein Tala was sanctioned for his repression of demonstrations during his time as the Deputy Governor General of Tehran Province.[1] According to Iran Briefing, Hossein Tala was Deputy Governor prior to September 2010 when he became the head of tobacco affairs.[2]

According to Iran Briefing, in September 2010 Hossein Tala received an award for his role during the crackdown on protestors after the June 2009, elections during an inauguration ceremony for the new Deputy Governor General.[3]
