Politics

  • Revolution Day coverage:
    • Mehdi Parpanchi, BBC Persian journalist, discloses thatFars News Agency's alleged photo of the February 11th Revolution Day celebrations at Azadi Square, is in reality an old photo depicting the supporters of the Green Movement, who took to the streets in 2009 protesting against the fraudulent presidential elections.
    • President Hassan Rouhani, addressing the Revolution Day rally, defends the track record of his government including the nuclear negotiations:
      • "The centrifuges are spinning, and so does the wheel of the economy of this country... Those who say Iran came to the negotiation table because of sanctions are lying... The worst kind of treason is the treachery [at the home] behind the trenches... the nation backs the nuclear negotiations just as it backed our forces during the war with Iraq."
    • Major General Qassem Suleimani, IRGC Quds Force chief, addresses the Revolution Day rally in his native province of Kerman:
      • "Today, we see... revolution export... from Bahrain and Iraq to Syria, Yemen and North Africa."
    • The regime in Tehran celebrates the 36th anniversary of the 1979 revolution with rallies and revolutionary slogans:
    • In answer to Undersecretary David Cohen's testimony, some demonstrators shout: "[In nuclear negotiations,] Our back is not against the wall... We are ready for the great battle."
    • Mark Glenn, The Crescent and The Cross movement co-founder in Tehran: "Israel kllled John F. Kennedy... One day, America will be at war against Israel."
