Senate Iran Sanctions Bill Delayed Over Lack of Democratic Support


Mark Dubowitz, executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, who was scheduled to testify today before the Banking committee, said he had heard concerns that senior Obama administration officials would have had difficulty testifying on the same day as the president’s State of the Union address.

Last week, Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron both urged lawmakers to hold off on new sanctions until international negotiations run their course. The leaders said considering sanctions legislation now could blow up the talks and Cameron even acknowledged he had personally been calling individual senators on the matter.
