FDD Welcomes Palestinian Politics Analyst Grant Rumley

WASHINGTON – The Foundation for Defense of Democracies proudly welcomed Grant Rumley this week as its newest research analyst. Rumley will focus on Palestinian politics and other developments in the Levant.

“Grant has published important work on Palestinian politics over the last two years while based in Jerusalem. This is a crucial area of study that is too often overlooked,” said Jonathan Schanzer, FDD’s vice president for research. “We have also been very impressed with Grant’s access to decision-makers in both Jerusalem and Ramallah.”

Prior to joining FDD, Grant was a visiting fellow at Mitvim, The Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies, where he authored, “Back to Basics: The Evolution of the Palestinian UN Campaign.” While in Jerusalem, Grant also founded and edited The Jerusalem Review of Near East Affairs. Previously, Grant served as a consultant in Washington, DC on issues related to antiterrorism, the Middle East, and war-gaming strategies.

“I am very excited to be joining an organization I have long admired and respected. FDD has a strong reputation for sound, detailed analysis, and I look forward to contributing to their research of the region,” said Rumley.

Rumley is completing a master’s degree in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Michigan State University and studied at Alexandria University in Egypt in 2010. From 2012-2013 he was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in Jerusalem.
