Russia, China Are Quiet When It Comes to ISIS

State-controlled media outlets in Russia have even been blaming the U.S. and other anti-Assad nations for the surge of ISIS, said Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

“I would compare this to the Chinese and Russian position on Al Qaeda during the global war on terror,” Gartenstein-Ross said. “Both were against it, but since it didn’t pose as much of an immediate threat to them, they were happy to let somebody else do the work.”
