Reports Claim that Daphne-Raised Jihadist Omar Hammami Executed, but Somali Sources Skeptical
Bill Roggio, editor of The Long War Journal, however, said Friday that the report may not be accurate.
"All I have heard is the rumor; one of my Somali sources is very skeptical," he said. "I have not seen any announcement by Shabaab confirming or denying the report. I put out an inquiry to their spokesman, but no answer as of yet."
The Long War Journal is a nonprofit website dedicated to covering the war on terrorism. It is funded in part by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Washington-based think tank.
