The Next Step in Sanctioning Iran

But the Canadian government can do even more. As Mark Dubowitz and Sheryl Saperia argued recently in a column published in the National Post, Ottawa should add Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps Qods Force (IRGC-QF) – which does the Iranian regime's dirty work, from moving money to spreading terrorism to killing dissidents – to Public Safety Canada's list of terrorist entities. That list already contains several groups that get their money through the IRGC, including Hezbollah, Hamas and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (an umbrella organization for proTaliban groups). Hezbollah, in particular, is essentially a wholly owned Iranian subsidiary, and it makes no sense to put it on the list of banned groups and not the IRGC.
