Development of Azar, Changouleh Oilfields Priority
Expediting development projects of Azar and Changoleh oilfields located in Ilam province is among the priority of the Oil Ministry. Managing Director of Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) Nader Ghorbani said that development projects of the oilfields, shared with Iraq, are currently underway but efforts are being made to hasten the process. Referring to the policy of the Oil Ministry on prioritizing development projects of the oilfields located in the border areas, he said that National Iranian Oil Company pursues the objective very seriously. He hoped that implementation of the oilfield development projects help improve the living condition and livelihood of local people.
The official said that infrastructural facilities of the oilfield are being prepared pointing out that an agreement worth 250 billion rials (US$20.4 million) has been signed with Regional Power Company for supplying 27 megawatts of electricity for the oilfield. Ghorbani said that power supply project, which is now 75% complete, will become operational by the next two or three months. The Azar oil field spans an overall area of 482 square kilometers in southeast of Mehran town in the western Iranian province of Ilam.
