Iran to Update Oil, Gas Platforms in Persian Gulf
TEHRAN (FNA)- The National Iranian Offshore Oil Company (NIOOC) signed an agreement with a consortium of domestic banks and Iran Marine Industrial Company (Sadra) on the implementation of a package of upstream projects, maintenance and meeting oil platforms needs.
NIOOC Chief Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh said that the MoU would be in the form of engineering, procurement, construction and financing (EPCF), adding that 18,000 billon rials of the needed budget will be provided by domestic banks and Sadra Company will implement the project.
"Also for the first time a 250 million Euros credit has been earmarked for upgrading and doing essential repairs at platforms and oil and gas wells in the offshore sector, which include engineering and procurement of goods and equipment for oil and gas platforms in the Persian Gulf waters including at Soroush, Noroz, Balal and Salman platforms," he told the oil ministry's website.
"The NIOOC not only plays an active role in the production and transfer of oil and gas but puts a spotlight on Iran's sovereignty in Persian Gulf waters," Zirakchianzadeh said.
Referring to Sadra Company's participation in the development of Reshadat oil platform, the official noted that Sadra is in charge of the development of Reshadat oil field with the aim of the production of 75 thousand barrels of light oil per day, upgrading, modernization and gathering associated gases.
He voiced satisfaction in the progress of the project, adding that pipeline laying, jacket installation and three top sites of the project have been completed which he called a symbol of national honor in the Persian Gulf.
After the implementation of the project, it will yield a kind of light oil with 35 to 36 API degree, according to the official.
This is for the first time that a package of upstream sector projects as well as maintenance of platforms and oil and gas wells are being implemented at a national scale, the NIOOC chief said, adding signing MoU with Sadra Company, which took place on Wednesday, opens a new chapter in cooperation between the NIOOC and domestic companies.
