Deal: In October 2009, Reuters reported that "the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) is in talks with the RAK Gas Company to export natural gas from a joint field to Ras al-Khaimah in the northern part of the United Arab Emirates" (Reuters, October 12, 2009). Dow Jones later reported that these talks were not taking place and RAK was fielding offers from many companies. One source indicated that most of the discussion with IOOC concerned the joint running of the Hengam field and not for the export of gas to the UAE (Dow Jones, October 15, 2009).
