RAK Gas Company
Date: November 2006 – Unknown
Deal: In November 2006, the Gulf Times reported that Royal Dutch Shell and RAK were looking into piping gas from Iran into the UAE (Gulf Times, November 1, 2006). There have been no further reports on any deal between Iran, Shell, and RAK.
Date: October 2009
Deal: In October 2009, Reuters reported that "the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) is in talks with the RAK Gas Company to export natural gas from a joint field to Ras al-Khaimah in the northern part of the United Arab Emirates" (Reuters, October 12, 2009). Dow Jones later reported that these talks were not taking place and RAK was fielding offers from many companies. One source indicated that most of the discussion with IOOC concerned the joint running of the Hengam field and not for the export of gas to the UAE (Dow Jones, October 15, 2009).
U.S. Business Ties: RAK does not appear to have any business interests in the U.S. nor has it received any federal contracts, according to USASpending.gov (USASpending.gov, accessed August 13, 2014).
